SCIF License Backups

SCIF License Backups is an administrative tool operated by VA Claim Buster. It creates encrypted recovery copies of the SCIF licensing ledger in the operator’s Google Drive and downloads those copies to verify recovery.

This tool is for the authorized VACB operator. SCIF customers do not need to connect Google Drive or sign in here. It does not back up customers’ VA claims, medical documents, or files stored in the SCIF desktop app.

Limited Google Drive access

The tool requests the drive.file permission to create and manage files it creates or the operator explicitly selects for it. It does not request access to the operator’s entire Drive. The current worker uploads encrypted archives, checks file and folder metadata, and downloads its archives to verify them; it does not automatically delete backups.

Recovery and authorization

Backups are encrypted before upload. Recovery keys are held separately from Google Drive. The operator can revoke the Google connection through Google Account permissions. Recovery requires operator review before a restored ledger can be used.
